HOW IT GOT STARTED

In some worlds the blog comes before the vlog, but in my case, it's the opposite!

I've always had an interest in filmmaking since watching those mid-late 90's Crusty Demons of Dirt videos and related motocross culture films. Not only did I want to do those things on dirt bikes, but I also wanted to make movies about it!

The start for me was to take a personal loan back in the mid-2000's and purchase an Apple Power Mac G5 and a Sony Camcorder. From there, I filmed some of the things my friends and I were doing with our Mustangs (since we'd moved out of dirt bikes and into cars at 16). Those early videos included a lot of burnouts and my best attempts at creating a Crusty-style video with the not-so-Crusty things we were doing!

A few of those videos made it to YouTube before it was, ya know... THE YouTube it is now. Nobody watched them, and that's fine, cause it helped me understand that what I thought was interesting and cool, might not be to anyone else. It gave me good perspective on filmmaking, forcing me to reconsider my efforts and make sure what I was doing was worth putting out there for the world. While I found it fun, it was just that, fun home videos that we could look back on and have a laugh.

Fast-forward to late 2018, about 12-years after my first YouTube uploads, and I found an incredible niche with the then brand new Honda Monkey 125 motorcycle. I had preordered this bike 6-months before it arrived on U.S. shores, and the day I picked it up from the dealership, I shot an "overview" video going over the entire bike and talking about everything I knew and understood about it. Since this was one of the earlier bikes to arrive in the U.S., and there wasn't many YouTube videos out there about the bike, my video gained quick interest and this inspired me to keep creating and reinvigorating my passion for filmmaking!

2 1/2 years and 200 or so videos after that first Honda Monkey video, I was able to accumulate over 5000 subscribers and diversify my channel to include much more content, including other motorcycles beyond the Monkey, how-to instructional videos for several different types of motorcycles, motocross racing vlogs, product highlight specials, product reviews, kids motocross racing, kids kart racing, family vlogs, travel vlogs, event vlogs, and some more I'm just not remembering at this time! Suffice to say, the Honda Monkey took me on a journey in a totally different way than a motorcycle should!
